Habitat for Humanity house building project

In October 2010 Small Boat community pitched in to help Habitat for Humanity build a house in the West of Sydney for a family from Sudan, and with lots of help from family and friends we also raised $5,000 towards the building materials.

The Arts

Small Boat values the arts and artists. We seek to provide opportunities for artists and creativity to be expressed and affirmed. Each year we host two art exhibitions – the stations of the cross exhibition at Easter and another exhibition celebrating life to coincide with the Manly Arts Festival (held in spring).

Late night street chaplaincy

Some of our crew are engaged in a new venture to bring peace late at night into the often violent pub district of Manly. It’s called being a street pastor. The objective is to care, listen and help people. It’s simple but we are hoping it will have an effect on alcohol related violence on the Manly Corso as it has in the UK.

Neighbourhood Party

Neighbourhood Party – each December we have a street party with a barbecue, cool drinks, ice cream and a jumping castle right in the middle of the street. Check here in November for details.
