What we do
Small Boat Big Sea is a community of people who share a passion for life, creativity and justice. We seek to develop genuine Christian spirituality that connects deeply through place and space, beyond just Sundays. We do, however, meet weekly on Sunday afternoons at the William Street Studios in Fairlight, and hold a number of other events, gatherings and projects.
On Sunday, we gather to encourage one another and reinforce the rhythms that form the structure of community.
We follow a simple liturgy:
Alongside this our Kids Ahoy program offers age appropriate programs for children of all ages. See below for more info.
The lounge is held every Sunday at 5:30pm, 3 William Street Fairlight
There are a number of different groups that meet throughout the week at Small Boat Big Sea.
- DNA’s (Discipleship, Nurture, Accountability) are groups of 2 to 5 people who meet regularly to talk, support and pray for each other.
- Bible studies meet together regularly to study the scriptures and discuss what they have to say to us in Australia today.
- Pop-Up groups and events are opportunities to delve into a specific issue or topic. Check out our Facebook page or sign up to our mailing list to find out more about these.
- Meals are a big part of our community and there is usually something going on somewhere!
After sharing in the first part of our service together the children have their own learning time. They love the music, activities, games, team work, and stories!
Kids Ahoy Creche, Minis, and Juniors caters for kids from Preschool through to Grade 6.
We also run a program for teenagers though they often participate in the Lounge.
All Kids Ahoy leaders have completed Working with Children Checks and Baptist Churches of NSW & ACT Creating Safe Spaces training.
We also run a local play group. Come and visit us Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 10am at the Playtime space down the drive.
